Green Fluorescent Protein (eGFP).

Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) is a natural bioluminescent protein from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria. Its discovery and development had a tremendous impact on cell biology and physiology, earning its developers the 2008 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Key facts

Source organism: The jellyfish Aequorea victoria.
Protein size: 238 amino acids.
Excitation / emission: Fluoresces at ~510 nm when excited at ~488 nm.
Cofactor requirement: None — no cofactors or substrates are required for fluorescence.
Scientific significance: A workhorse reporter across cell biology and physiology; its development earned the 2008 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Built on the same purity standard, start to finish.

eGFP mRNA is produced using our own ArtPure™ polymerases, ZebraScribe kit and optimized IVT conditions — so the purity and capping efficiency that define our enzymes carry straight through to your transcript.

ArtPure™ enzymes throughout

Produced with >99% pure, animal origin-free polymerases — no proteinase, RNase or DNase contamination.

Room-temperature option

A room-temperature shipping option is available for eGFP mRNA, in addition to standard cold-chain shipment.

Custom by design
